"I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" - It's Fat Free!!

Hello Fellow Crafters and Friends,

Ok, so you can't eat it... but this was a super fun project to make.  I did not take any 'in process' pictures because it all just kind of came together on the fly.

I was really stressing over which paper to use because I love so many of my prints and I wanted to make this a practical storage piece to keep on my desk, so I would be staring at it all the time. : )

And THEN..... my Pumpkin helped me decide because she gave me two pieces of 'damaged' cardstock.  LOL  I love it when she helps... hehehe

So here is what we started with... (we, being Pumpkin and I)

And here is what we made......

I also used a trim around the edge of the tub for when the lid is off so it didn't look like a 'butter tub'.  Oh goodness we wouldn't want that... lol

Recipe:
Empty and Clean 5# butter tub
Cartridge - Plantin Schoolbook, scallop edge cut, flower (blast, Italic), envelope (roly poly)
Ribbons - Micheal's wired edge and MME Portobello Road "Buddies" Trims (silver).
Paper - My Mind's Eye - Portobello Road "Family - First Class" Glittered paper - 2 pieces of 12 x 12
Embellishments - MME Portobello Road "Family" Die Cut, MME Portobello Road "You and Me" Glittered Accessories Sheet

On a final note for this post, I would like to make a request to all my card making friends and followers.
This post is from Courts Crafts and I have asked permission to pass it on.  I know many of us experience tragedy in our lives of one sort or another, but I just can not imagine what this couple could be going through right now.

"Next up, I have a request - most of us are card makers and a dear friend of mine and his wife just lost their 13 month old baby girl. It was something rare and in 30 hours she went from perfectly healthy to gone from their lives. There was nothing they could do. They were incredibly brave and donated her organs and already 5 children's lives have been saved. They are seeing the blessing in this storm and are leaning on God to guide them through this horrific time. Their names are Sean and Kjersten Post and their daughter's name was Brynnley.

I don't want to invade on their privacy, but if you would like to send a card to them, I would really love it if they knew how many people are praying for them and their situation.

If you feel lead and would like to send them a card, please send it to me and I will package them all off and send the cards to them:"

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time out of your day to read my humble little blog.

Layout Wednesday - My 1st Gypsy Project

Hello Fellow Crafters and Friends,

I have a layout today using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, my Gypsy and 'I Believe' paper from My Mind's Eye.

I left a lot of open space near the pictures for journaling.

I used my Gypsy to connect the words, year and base circle into one cut, then was able to copy and paste the words and year exactly the same to a second layout to cut just like the base, but without the circle.  I was pretty excited about that.  No guess work to get them the same for layering.  I also cut out some mats for the pictures.

This is a picture of the back of the base paper. I am a paper lover and didn't want to waste the pretty pattern behind the circle base, so on a 3rd layout, I copied the circle base, made them slightly smaller and cut out just the circle on the back side of the Layout page so I could utilize the patterend paper that was going to be hidden.  Silly I know, but I just love all the pretty paper.

Here is what the back looks like after assembling.  You could even use it as a layout base just as is.

I was late when I completed and took pictures so the picture quality is not to good.

I also inked the edges of the letters and numbers and the base circle to give it a little seperation.

Recipe:
Paper - MME - "I Believe" Winter Berries is the base paper
MME - "I Believe" Trees Glittered Paper is the layer paper
            Textrued cardstock for the circle
Embellishments - flower from garland used in decorating this year.
Tag and 'ribbon paper' - "I Believe" Glittered Cardstock Accessories Sheet
Ink - Black from G Studio and Moss Green from Versa, i think. (going on memory here.)

I have not done a layout for over a year... oh my goodness.  I think it is time to get back to scrapping.

Thank you for stopping by.  Hope you enjoyed.
Sorry posted so late, I have a sick little one and she needs my TLC.

Monday Quickie - Lunchbox Notes

I saw this idea a long time ago on 24/7 MOMS for 'Lunch Notes'.  There is even a couple of companies that sell them with pre-printed sayings on them for all age ranges and co-workers, spouses, etc.  I thought since my little Pumpkin just adores "Beauty and the Beast" I would use these FREE Disney Lunch Note Printables as a base for a little 'backpack' note for her.  Not that she can read it, but she will know it is from MOM, so it will be special to her.

Check out the 24/7 MOMS they have several other FREE printable links.

Here is a picture of the Printable block that I picked.
Then I cut a 'square' on page 73 of the Plantin Schoolbook handbook, (Button 42, shift) at 3.5 inches.

I then cut around the border of the printable, since this is for a 3 year old, I did not take to much time with detail.

Added some 'Stickles', because what girl doesn't love a little 'sparkle'.

And wa la done!  Simple Monday!!  You could put a bunch of these together and keep with your sandwich bags to just drop in those lunchboxes or Hubby's coat pocket.  I loved this idea when I saw it many months ago, and know that I can get FREE sentiments.. I will for sure be starting a stash.

Recipe:
Paper - Alphabet Soup - Sweet Song Paper
Sentiment - Disney Lunch Note Printables
Embellishments - Stickles (yellow ), and some other glitter glue in purple.

This project only took a couple of minutes so I thought I would make one more.

I have a house full of candy, which I seriously don't need, so I thought I would take Pumpkins Preschool teachers a little "after the holiday's" treat bag.

Plantin Schoolbook has a wonderful little treat box cut on page 80 of the handbook, (Button 49) with various options using the function keys.  I love the Roly Poly function on nearly everything with this cartridge, so.. I chose the Roly Poly cut.  Using 'Fit to Page' if you have an Expression, (it cut at 6 1/4 inches) you end up with a pretty perfect size treat box.

Then you crease the notch marks, which I love that the cricut puts in there for you, and you are ready to assemble.

I put glue on the front side small tabs and long side tab and on the backside bottom edge.  But this is going to be however you prefer it to seam up.  I like mine to hide.

So here it is assembled.

Easy Peasy!!

Oh of course I decided to give it a little more once it was together, but since I used my ATG it was simple to take apart and give a few stamps and some embossing powder.

Here is the final product.

Simple and it really only took 15 minutes for both projects from start to finish.  Of course dry time for the Stickles is not included. :)

Recipe:
Paper: MME So Sophie Lovely Ledger Paper
Ink: VersaMark in Dazzle
Embossing Powder - Gold

Well I hope you enjoyed the Monday Quickie, I enjoyed making them.

Thank you very much for visiting.  I love comments.. hint hint.. :)

UPDATE:  Pumpkin LOVED her little note and was holding it all the way to Pre-school this morning.  I think it helped 'make her day' better.

Projects for the week

Plantin Schoolbook Week

Ok.. so tomorrow is MONDAY..

Monday will be a card or something that takes less than 15 minutes.

I will be keeping Mondays quick since I know most of us are very busy on Monday's.

Wednesday will be a Layout

My layouts are usually 2 pages in 12 x 12 design.  I will be using My Mind's Eye "I Believe" line.

Friday will be a "re-purposed" project

I will be using a plastic 'I can't believe it's not butter' tub.  I think it is 3 pounds.

Hope you can join me.

I would love to have you share your project.
