"Make Up Your Own Holiday" - Blog Hop - March 26-27, 2011

HELLO HOPPERS AND FRIENDS

WELCOME TO THE
"MAKE UP YOUR OWN HOLIDAY"
BLOG HOP

"DINNERS ON YOU"
You should have arrived here from Summer and Jennifer at The Cricut Diaries.  Wasn't that an adorable party.

If you just stumbled across the hop, and you’d like to start at the beginning, hop over to Karelj’s blog at www.kareljcreations.com to start at the beginning.  After my stop, you should head over to Colleen at Col’s Creative Corner to see what she has in store for you!”

So what is "Make Up Your Own Holiday" you ask??  Well, these are the holiday's we celebrate that don't make it onto the "Day Off Work or School" Calendar.  Yeah I know, why not, right??

So Karelj over at "One By One The Flamingos Are Stealing My Sanity" asked us to show how we celebrate one of "OUR" holiday's.

We have a tradition in our family, that when someone gets a new job or a promotion they have to take US out to dinner.  hehe.. kinda backwards I know but that is the fun of it!  Oh and the other fun part is WE, the quests, get to pick where we want to eat.  LOL  So sometimes it can be a $$$$ dinner and sometimes it is "Take Out"  (Depends on the new job or promotion.. hehehe)

Well both of my oldest sons started new jobs recently. So one of them got to take us out for dinner, "Red Lobster" and the other is still waiting for his first paycheck so we will probably have "Take Out" with him next weekend.

Ok.. so on with the projects!!

For my oldest I made a little "Take Out" box for him.  Inside are a few little helpful items when starting your 1st REAL 40 hour a week job.  (like a small bottle of asprin and hand sanitizer.. hehe)

Very proud of BOTH my guys.

And yes, that does say 'From "Dude"'... I have no idea why but that is a endearing nick name my oldest has given me.

I found a box on "Tags Bags Boxes & More" on my "G" and cut with my cricut using "Cosmo Cricket - Earthday:   " paper.  The weight of the paper was just right for folding and the pattern was good for a guy.

Then I assembled using my atg.

Then I embellished with the same paper, just reveresed and cut out some of the leaves to add dimension.

And TA DA....

The ribbon also made a great holder for $$ or a gift card.

Cute huh??!!!  Hope he likes it.  I am sure he will like the $$ inside.. (wink wink)
Come back tomorrow to see what I make for my other WORKING GUY! (Hint:  He is a pizza kinda guy)

BLOG CANDY YOU ASK???

Karelj is offering an over-all blog candy for those who are hopping along with us. She thought it would be fun to have some holiday-themed candy for this hop--but, of course, made-up holiday items were hard to come by!

She decided to do a whole bunch of *regular* holiday themed stamps for you to enjoy.
From Fiskars, there is an assorted holiday set; there's an alphabet from All Night Media, a set of 100 plus clear stamps and a storage case from Family Memories, and 5 sets of clear stamps from various dollar bins in big box stores.

How to win them?
Follow along the blog trail, leaving a comment on each and every blog.

On Monday, Karelj will ask her  buddy Randy (random.org) to select a blog number (from the list), a day (Saturday is one, Sunday is two), and a comment number from that blog. Please make sure you have left a reliable way to contact you (email is best, in the safe format of **** at **** dot com ) so you can be notified by her personally. If you don't, she’ll have to select another winner.

And for my personal Blog Candy, I will be selecting 7 winners.  As I feel 7 is a lucky number!!
These are the items I will be giving away. (will add pictures of goodies later)
1.  6 x 6 Pad of MME "Hattie"
2.  6 x 6 Pad of Bo Bunny
3. 6 x 6 Pad of MME "Gertie"
4. 6 x 6 Pad of MME "Mabel"
5. 6 x 6 Pad of CratePaper "Portrait"
6. 6 x 6 Pad of Bo Bunny
7. 6 x 6 Pad of MME "Hazel"

Small but it is the fun of getting something in the mail, right??  So please leave a way for me to contact you.  I will also be using Randy (random.ord) to select the winners on Monday the 28th.
OH.. how to win my blog candy... simply leave a comment on the "Dinners On You" Posts.  You don't have to be a follower, but I would sure love to have you as a Friend.

So onto the next awesome project at Colleen at Col’s Creative Corner .  Your going to love what she has in store for you!!  Happy Hopping!!!

Hey, "Dude"! I love the endearing name almost as much as your project. I am "MomE" since my daughter's name also starts with an E (Emily) and she's "BabE". Now that I'm a grandmother, I'm GramE. That's a nice holiday, and a good idea re: what to stuff into a new job's desk. ♥ it!

    Fondly,

  26. What a great idea...we kind of have that same holiday here...when hubby gets a new job he has me take him out to dinner. Only problem there is that I'm a SAHM so I don't have income coming in. You could say the fun is he ends up paying for dinner. Just the fact that we're all out together and celebrating is fun enough.
